The Cluff curse visits the Johnsons

Curses are real. The Cluffs have many curses.

Probably the most famous curse is the traveling curse, where just after you've left the house, you have to return to it for something that was forgotten. Also, if a motorhome is involved in the trip, there is sure to be a breakdown. Actually, it doesn't really matter what the vehicle is...if the family is going somewhere, there will be some kind of breakdown, and if a guest is along, there is sure to a mortifying situation that sends the guest (usually a prospective marital partner) running in fear. (The funny thing is, most of them came back and married us anyway!)

Some interesting things have been happening around our house lately, which in turn has caused me to reflect on my Cluff roots.

While excavating under our house, the boys who have been doing the work discovered 3 petrified cats, 2 petrified rats and 1 petrified cat skull. I only got a picture of one of the cats, but you'll notice that only the fur is missing. The skin is still there, which is why they look petrified.

We got to church and discovered that Hyatt had a broken blood vessel in his eye. Nothing a band-aid can't cure, even though he had to use Tilly's girly one from her wasp stings. He wore the band-aid the whole rest of the evening, like a pirate.

Tilly caught a garter snake, and though she's caught dozens before, this was the biggest one ever and it had different markings (there are 5 kinds of garter snakes), and boy did it ever let her know she wasn't the boss. While she was carrying it to her critter catcher, she let out a quick scream and dropped it. It bit her!!! The animal kingdom really is striking back! The bite was tiny and she didn't even cry, so I asked her what hurt worse, a snake bite or a bee sting, and she said snake bites don't hurt, but bees stings hurt really bad. The bite only scared her.

Oh man! The mummified cat! Ugh! Shocking to think of you all sitting around in the house having a lovely dinner with all kinds of spooky, furless mummys just a few feet away! You gotta seal that sucker up!!

I can't believe Tilly is SO brave! I won't even touch a snake I found outside, and I can just imagine Dana stomping the crud out of it!
